headline_pot_imageSeveral elements need to come together just right In order for any marketing campaign to be successful. But probably the single greatest conversion tool you can use is a good landing page. The landing page is that part of your website that a user ends up on after clicking an ad. It basically serves as a potential customer’s grand introduction to the product or service you’re offering.

The primary goal of a landing page is to capture your visitor’s attention within seconds and hold it until they’ve been convinced to purchase your product or service. But no matter how beautiful your landing page design is, if it doesn’t have a good headline chances are it’s not going to give you the desired result. A good headline tells the reader why they should stay on your page verses looking somewhere else on Internet.

So what makes for a good landing page headline? Here are three ingredients that a landing page headline must have in order to get results!

1.       It Should Be Clear and Brief

Your headline needs to be short, clear, specific, and get straight to the point. Cut out the fluff and get to the meat of what your offer is all about. This doesn’t give you a free pass to use a boring headline. It still must be impactful and interesting. Your headline also needs to accurately describe the product or service you’re offering to customers. People have really short attention spans, so it’s super important that you grab them right away with the right information.

2.       It Should Be Benefit Driven

So just what exactly makes your offer so great? Your landing page headline should definitely tell the visitor what they’ll be getting, how taking advantage of this offer will have a positive effect on them. If they know what they’re getting, they’ll be more likely to convert. Even if your product highlights several benefits, focus on the most exciting one and express it clearly and succinctly. The best way to do this is through the use of a short subheading. No good headline is complete without an equally effective subheading to complement it.

3.       It Should Stand Out

The headline should be the first place your readers’ eyes go to when they go to your landing page. It needs to be big. It needs to be bold. It needs to be creative. You can even use a bit of wordplay and make it catchy. And remember, whatever you do, you need to keep the two main goals in mind: first getting the customer’s attention and then getting them to take action.
