Sweet Spot #19: Christmas Cocktailing

Nothing starts off a festive Christmas Party quite like the perfect festive cocktail! Colorfully placed in my Holiday Drink Station, I’ve found a few yummy cocktails to serve. Here they are for you to try yourself!

Santa’s Hat: Mix up a festive cocktail that looks like an upside down Santa hat. The fluffy rim on this glass is made with coconut, which is the perfect edible match for the fur on St. Nick’s cap.

3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 Teaspoon water
1/4 Cup sweetened, flaked coconut
3 oz. red cranberry juice
1 oz. Malibu Rum
1/2 oz. grenadine
1 candy cane

Mix together powdered sugar and water until smooth. Fold a paper towel into a 4-inch square and lay it on a saucer. Spread the powdered sugar mixture on top of the towel on the saucer. Spread coconut in a shallow layer on another saucer. Dip the rim of a Martini glass in the sugar mixture on the towel until the rim is coated. Then, dip the sugared rim into the coconut. Use a spoon to pack the coconut on to the sugar coating so it stays on the rim. Add the cranberry juice, Malibu rum and grenadine into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a prepared Martini glass and serve. Garnish with a candy cane. Break off the top hook of the candy cane if desired.

Holly Day: looks cool and refreshing like summer, but sweet and comforting for winter.

2 oz. Skyy Infusions Grape
½ oz. fresh lemon juice
½ oz. Cointreau
7-up or Sprite

To mix:Combine all ingredients except soda in a tall mixing glass. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain over ice into a highball glass, and top with soda. Garnish with fresh mint and berries.

Tinsel Bellini: a great spin on classic champagne for New Year’s too!

2 oz. Hpnotiq
1 oz. Limoncello
1 oz. Champagne
Splash of lime juice

To mix: Rim the Champagne flute with a light coat of sugar. Pour chilled Hpnotiq, Limoncello, and Champagne into the champagne flute. Add a splash of lime juice.

Here’s a great slideshow of some more holiday-themed cocktails. Enjoy! (Responsibly)
