Quick-Fire Questions: Tahja Norman

There’s nothing easy about being an author. From writing the first draft to getting the piece published, the journey is often filled with uncertainty and at times rejection. Grit is an important ingredient in getting to the finish line—something that Tahja Norman knows very well.
At 22, Tahja already has three books under her name. Get to know this go-getter as she answers our questions about her life, career, and experience in printing with NextDayFlyers.

Quick-Fire Questions

Tell us about yourself. Who is Tahja Norman?

I am an unconventional suburban girl from Sicklerville, New Jersey . A few of my hobbies are living in the moment, performing poetry, and spending time with family and friends.

I’m a 2X college graduate of Camden County College and Bowie State University. Creativity comes naturally to me, and my goal is to use that to build my legacy.

When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer?

I realized at the age of seven that I wanted to become a writer. That was when I began writing stories and drawing characters.

What do you think makes a good story?

What I think makes a good story is great character development, unconventional views, conflict, and including family values in it.

We couldn’t agree more. Every great story needs a character with depth and personality. In her book “A Glimpse of Her World”, Tahja pulls inspiration from her life experiences to create poetry that speaks well from the heart.

How many books have you written? Which one is your favorite and why?

I have written three books so far. They’re all my favorite, but I’ll say A Glimpse of Her World is my favorite. All the poetry I’ve written was my reality at one point in time. I dove into my past insecurities and memories (good and bad) and created poetry from that. That’s why it’s called “A Glimpse” because some content in it is no longer my reality.

What’s your favorite book and would you recommend we add it to our reading list?

My favorite book is The Laws of Thinking by Bishop E. Bernard Jordan. I recommend that you add it to your reading list because it contains 20 secrets to using the divine power of your mind to manifest prosperity. It was very interesting and perspective-changing for the better.

What advice can you pass on to aspiring young authors?

I would advise young authors to dive into their own life experiences and create stories from them. Whether it’s good or bad, you never know what impact that could make on readers worldwide.

Also, don’t focus on who supports you and who doesn’t. Not everyone will be interested in what you’re doing, and that’s okay. Don’t let that make you think that your work is bad. Write to fulfill your soul’s desires, not just to stay relevant and have the title of an author.

And Tahja has indeed fulfilled her soul’s desires. As if writing three books is not enough, Tahja started a podcast that talks about thriving in life. Is there anything that this young woman can’t do? We can’t say that we’re surprised that she ventured in this direction, as Tahja is a tenacious self-starter, making her the best person for the job.

Tell us about your Flourishing Friends podcast. What do you talk about in the show?

My podcast is called The Flourishing Footprints Podcast. I refer to my podcast supporters as my “Flourishing Friends.” I talk about how to make the footprints of your life’s journey lead you to your flourish-filled future.

They’re all brief and inspirational episodes that teach listeners how to get their life right and keep it right. My podcast is my inspirational philanthropy since I received great guidance and mentorship growing up.

Please invite our readers to tune in. Also, for those that want to check it out, what episode do you recommend they listen to first and why?

For anyone who wants to listen to the “The Flourishing Footprints Podcast,” you can tune in on Anchor, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts. I would recommend everyone listen to Season 7 Episode 3 “Your Intuition Will Never Lead You Astray!” I think it’s important to listen to our intuition. The more you do that, the better off you are in my opinion. That’s one of the many ways to walk in wisdom.

Tahja seems to have a lot on her plate these days. We wondered: What does she do during downtime?

“When I’m not writing, I like to shop, go out to eat, go to the beach, buy a bunch of stuff I don’t need from Sephora, attend my acting classes, and be on camera.”
