Cosmetic Labels: Small Addition, Big Gains

Set Your Cosmetic Products Apart With Customized Labels

According to a report from retail analytics firm Edited, the global beauty industry was valued at an estimated $532 billion in 2019. 2020 may have slowed down its growth a bit, but the industry is still on an upward trajectory.

If you are selling cosmetics and beauty products online or in a brick-and-mortar store, you are in the perfect position to increase the reach of your brand and boost customer loyalty. But before you start making plans for big promotions, it’s best to invest on high-quality cosmetic labels.

Your cosmetics and beauty products can benefit a lot from well-made custom labels. By using an eye-catching design and choosing the right colors, you can draw the attention of your customers to your products. Attractive labels can help pique your customers’ curiosity and improve the appeal of your items on the shelf. But aside from helping you catch more consumer eyeballs, cosmetic labels are a quick way to highlight the quality of your products. If the labels look and feel premium and don’t easily get damaged or peel off even if they get wet, customers can easily assume that the product must also have the same level of quality.

Make Stylish Labels That Follow the FDA’s Guidelines

It’s not all aesthetics when it comes to cosmetic labels. There are guidelines to follow as well. Your cosmetic labels must have all the required information set by the FDA. Otherwise, your product may be subject to regulatory action. Here are the things that you need to learn about labeling requirements:

Labeling Claims
As long as it’s truthful and not misleading, you can add a labeling claim to your product. It’s a good way to let your target customers know more about your product, and it might even help them make a decision. Some of the most common labeling claims include:
  • Organic
  • Vegan
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Cruelty free/Not tested on animals
  • Alcohol free

Expiration
It’s always a good idea to include the expiration date of your product on its label. Although there are no regulations that require you to do so, adding this information can ensure the safety of your customers.

Ingredients
You will also need to provide a list of ingredients of your cosmetic or beauty product on the label. The ingredients must be arranged in descending order of predominance.

Other important information that you must include in your cosmetic labels but are not necessarily required by the FDA are:
  • Name or an illustration that indicates the nature and use of your product
  • Net quantity of the contents measured by weight or numerical count
  • Complete address of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor
  • “Distributed by” statement if you are not the manufacturer of the product
  • Warning and caution statements

Make It More Personal With Custom-Printed Labels

If you want to establish a connection with your customers, you need to take a more personal approach when it comes to your cosmetic labels. Printing custom labels allows you to customize every detail of your labels including the size, shape, material, and finish. You can opt for a waterproof material if you don’t want your label to get damaged when soaked in liquid or coat it with a glossy finish if you are looking for that shiny and smooth effect.

Cosmetic Labels FAQs

How fast can you print my cosmetic labels?
Our standard turnaround time is 3-6 business days, but we also offer next-day printing for an additional charge. Take note that turnaround time doesn’t include shipping.

When can I expect to receive my order?
Delivery time depends on your location. If you want to know the ETA of your order, click the Get Delivery Estimate option just below our price calculator after setting the specifications of your labels.

Should I get individually cut labels or roll labels?
It basically depends on the number of labels that you need. If you are going to label only a few items, individually cut labels are more suitable since they can be peeled and applied manually. Roll labels are more appropriate for bulk labeling because they can be applied using most standard-sized label dispensers.

How can I use my own artwork for the label design?
If you have your print-ready artwork in your computer or Dropbox account, you can upload it straight to our website. PDF is our preferred file format, but we also accept files in AI, DOC, EPS, JPG, PNG, PSD, PUB, TIF and XLS formats. To get the best results, your artwork should be in CMYK color mode at 300 dpi resolution and must include a .125" bleed on each side.

Do you offer professional design services?
Yes, we do. You can call our design services representatives at this number: 844-380-9962. We would be happy to help if you need a small design fix or an entirely new design for your cosmetic labels.
