Launch Targeted Postcard Campaigns With EDDM®

If you’re planning to send out postcards to prospects but are constantly held back by the effort and budget, we’re setting the record straight: you don't need to exert a lot of effort and expenses for a list and a permit. Believe it or not, you can effortlessly target every single door in your neighborhood at an affordable price. That's the beauty of the simplified Every Door Direct Mail® (EDDM®) service by USPS.

EDDM® mailing gives small businesses the chance to promote their products and services without all the cost and hassle that you typically associate with direct mail postcards marketing. You don't even need a mailing address. USPS will deliver postcards as they make their way through their carrier routes at the drop date specified.

Top 5 Benefits of EDDM® Postcards

Direct mail is statistically one of the most effective forms of advertising for any business. It delivers a higher return on investment than any other medium. Every dollar spent on mailers returns an average of $12.57 in sales! And with 3 out of 4 people reading direct mail, you are also guaranteed to be seen by majority of the recipients.

Below, we list down five specific benefits you get to enjoy if you choose to incorporate EDDM® postcards in your marketing campaign.

  1. Small Business Price
With EDDM®, you can mail your postcards and flyers for a much cheaper price compared to traditional direct mailer campaigns. The latter costs an average of 75¢ per piece for the smallest and most basic mailer promotion.

  2. Deliver BIG EDDM Postcard Sizes
As long as you keep within the postal size guidelines, you can send 8.5"x11" postcards and larger for big impact postcards that stand out in your customers mailbox.

  3. No Postage Permit Needed
Normally when sending postcard mailing services campaigns, you would need an active postal permit which can cost as much as $450 just to open an account. With EDDM®, you don't need one. USPS provides a special USPS/EDDM® Endicia permit that you can add directly to your mailer designs. This special permit also ensures that your EDDM® mailers are mailed separately from the mass of "circulars" that people are not always fond of.

  4. No Mailing List Needed
Instead of printing names and addresses, EDDM® utilizes a "simplified addressing" format that targets local postal customers in a radius of up to 5 miles. And because you no longer need to print names and addresses, you can forget all the typical ink-jet printing and labeling hassles.

  5. Short-Run Mailing Campaigns
Create extensive local mailing campaigns or smaller mailing campaigns to test the water in your neighborhood. The minimum quantity to qualify is just 200 print pieces, but you can send out up to 5,000 pieces per day.

Who Can Use EDDM® Postcards?

EDDM® is available to all companies and organizations who want to distribute promotions to the households and businesses in their entire neighborhood. It's designed to get your marketing messages directly in the hands of customers - a low-cost way to tell people about your grand opening, your weekend sale, or your special offer.

EDDM® is particularly useful for local retail businesses and organizations that rely on walk-in custom and local business support. This service is ideal for marketing:

Hi Samantha,

Thank you for considering Next Day Flyers for your mailing order.
In printing EDDM cards, you have the option to use your own indicia or our retail indicia. Since you mentioned you already got your indicia on your design, you may select "Use Indicia on artwork file" as you set up the order on the site.

Check out our EDDM Printing here: https://tinyurl.com/3m2whrx4 />
Should you need additional help, feel free to contact us and speak with our mailing specialist.

Hi Mike, We hope you're doing well. Card stock thickness is usually measured in the U.S. in terms of points (pt.) or mils that give the thickness of the sheet in thousandths of an inch. Example: A 14pt is 0.014" and 16pt to 0.016" while the basis weight of a paper is the designated fixed weight of 500 sheets, measured in pounds, in that paper's basic sheet size. To make sure you'll get to choose the correct material to order, feel free to contact us to request some samples.

Hi, Thank you for your question! We only print the items as a regular postcard order using the template allowable by USPS. We will ship the package to them to your shipping address and you will be the one to bring the postcards to your local post office. Unfortunately, we do not apply facing slips. The simplified EDDM Mailing Process could be seen on the USPS website. From there you can also look up the routes where they want to send your postcards, check the price for the service, and the paperwork you need to prepare.

Hi Mike, Thank you for your interest in our mailing services. For EDDM or Every Door Direct Mailing, this doesn't include postage as what we use for this service is a retail indicia while Direct Mailing does require postage and has an additional cost. Thank you for your question! "Use EDDM Retail Indicia" is an option which we add the EDDM Indicia on the back of your product as long as there is a 1 inch x 1 inch space for us to place it. We will follow the indicia on your design if your will choose "Use Indicia On Artwork File". If your are looking to place the indicia on the back of your design, you will have to choose front and back printing. The sizes available on this page are only the most popular sizes for EDDM postcards. If you need a custom size, you can check if the specifications you need can be configured on this page (select cardstock options): https://www.nextdayflyers.com/custom-promotional-printing/custom-product-calculator Please note though that the post office accepts only specific sizes/thicknesses for EDDM. We would recommend you to check with them first if they can accept the custom size and material you need for this mailing service.
