Let’s All Make Some Noise! But why? You say. Because Saturday, January 22, 2011 marks the launch of “National Noise Night.” Nope, I’m not talking about running down the street with blow horns, I’m talking about music and entertainment and dinners and auctions and fun…Nationwide! How cool is that?
It all started with twelve year old Malcolm who was diagnosed with a pediatric cancer at the age of ten. Even at that tender age, he became aware of the need for research to properly diagnose and cure children of all ages. He decided to “make some noise” about it.
The Make Some Noise Foundation for pediatric cancer research, incorporated in 2009, has already raised well over a quarter of a million dollars! Now that’s awesome. But there’s still noise to be made.
They are inviting the rest of the nation to join in and make some noise for pediatric cancer by hosting events across our great land on January 22, 2011. People, let’s get inspired! Let’s get our kids involved and think of some really fun ways to raise money that night. http://www.makenoise4kids.org/Upcoming_Events.html
Need help getting started? Here are some fun ideas:
-Check with your local school administrators- perhaps they can provide a space or give students “community service” points for hosting an event: Student talent show, concert or karaoke night, fine dining in the school cafeteria served by kids, or a dance off for Cancer.
-Organize a group babysitting night by providing entertainment for kids in the school auditorium and, while the kids have a great time- chaperoned by some experienced volunteers, Mom and Dad can have a great evening out knowing that their babysitting dollars are helping to fund pediatric cancer research.
-What would you like to be doing on Saturday, January 22, 2011? Chances are, others are wanting to do the same thing, so get a group together and think of a way to raise money doing it, and make it happen: Skiing for Cancer, Fun Run, Strike Out Cancer Bowling Night…anything will work with the proper planning and motivation.
