School of Visual Concepts, 500 Aurora Ave N, Seattle WA 98109

You’re invited to the 10th annual festival of all things letterpress. While a decade of Wayzgoose fun is definitely something worth celebrating, so is the School of Visual Concepts’ 40th birthday. Since 1971, SVC has been helping people learn the art and craft of design, copywriting, and for the last ten years, letterpress printing. So come join in and have a grand old time that’s been 40 years in the making. This free and family-friendly event features:

If you’re a letterpress printer, or thinking of becoming one, come check out the great deals on type, metal cuts, and equipment. Or come sell your extra stuff. It’s free, fun, and gets it done!

Sellers please RSVP to Sherry Perrault, Equipment Swap Coordinator: sherryperrault at

The center stage event! Top artists and design firms hit the SVC parking lot to print oversized posters with the hefty help of a two-ton steamroller instead of a traditional printing press. We’ll auction off these giants of design (the posters, not the people) to benefit SVC’s letterpress programs.

On August 27, 2011, the competition will be fierce as teams from the local art and design community compete to print the coolest gigantic poster in the SVC parking lot with a steamroller instead of the traditional printing press. This year we have concocted the perfect storm of creative studios, letterpress superstars, and contingents from local art & design programs.
