10 Inappropriate Postcards That Probably Won’t Catch On

NextDayFlyers specializes in high-quality discount postcards, perfect for businesses in need of eye-catching marketing materials. But there are some postcards that are probably best left on the cutting room floor. Here are a few examples of delightfully absurd postcards that you probably won’t see at your local gift shop.

We all know at least one or two people who love to send postcards from everywhere they go. If they spend a month touring Europe, you can expect to receive a lengthy postcard from every city along the way, even the ones you’ve never heard of. One minute you’re looking at Big Ben in London, and the next it’s “Greetings from Helsingborg,” You should be grateful that most postcard companies don’t sell postcards like the one above, or you would probably receive that one, too.

Ah, Camp Crystal Lake. Renowned for its majestic waters, towering trees, scenic landscapes, and the occasional bloody axe murder. You probably won’t find any discount postcards for this notorious campsite, but if you do pitch your tent on this hallowed ground, please mind your own business. When kids start investigating the strange noises and mysterious shadows, it never ends well. Ever.

There are tons of Los Angeles postcards, most of which show off iconic images of Chinatown, the Santa Monica Pier, the downtown skyline, or the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But isn’t it time we had a postcard that shows off the real Los Angeles? For those of us who live and work in the City of Angels, the above image beautifully illustrates the authentic L.A. that we experience on a daily basis.

So maybe the State Prison isn’t quite as picturesque as the landscapes commonly seen on postcards, but there is no reason why the commissary can’t offer a lovely selection of discount postcards for the inmates to send to their friends and relatives. When life gives you lemons, just stab them repeatedly into lemonade.

What? I never once said I was traveling to Australia. You assumed that.

Don’t you just wish you had a postcard to send to all the people who really piss you off? If only….

There are lots of lovely Silicon Valley postcards, but they tend to be the works of professional photographers making their way through the more scenic parts of San Jose, Cupertino, and Palo Alto. If the postcards were designed by the actual people of Silicon Valley, they might look something like this.

What happens when your beautiful city starts getting just a little too crowded for your taste? Scare potential tourists away by sending them postcards like this one.

Nobody loves staying connected more than stalkers, and yet the stalker postcard market remains surprisingly untapped.

Honesty really is the best policy, which brings us to the heart and soul of the whole postcard phenomenon. Because at the end of the day, your thoughtful friends and relatives aren’t trying to put a smile on your face and let you know that they’re thinking of you. They’re just trying to send you one very simple message…
