OBJECTIVE:

JOB SUMMARY:
Sets up various types and sizes of conventional and numerically controlled stretch presses by selecting, locating and securing large upper and lower dies or form blocks, selecting work clamps according to size and shape of material, adjusting jaws to hold work, and clamping and aligning arms according to length of part to be formed.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Press Support:
  • Ensure that press is properly supplied with paper
  • Maintain ink, water and chemical inventory and levels
  • Maintain clean work area, sweeping and mopping and general cleaning required
  • Assist in setups as needed
  • Assist in wash-ups as needed
  • Responsible for loading and re-skidding of materials from the press if the situation requires

Feeder Support:
  • Prepare the press for a run by verifying job specs and setting up the press accordingly
  • Responsible for seeing that correct stock is at press
  • Continually Inspects the fountain solution, inking systems
  • Maintain the proper operation of the feeder
  • Solve problems such as paper jams to avoid excessive downtime.
  • Monitors the paper throughout the run. Prepare and install new loads when necessary.
  • Work in conjunction with the press operators to complete preventative maintenance of the press.
  • Assist maintenance personnel when necessary in maintenance and making repairs to press.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have excellent communication and writing skills, and be capable with a computer (Basic knowledge of Excel and Word are a must)
  • Perform accurate data entry of the work completed and materials consumed to help maintain proper inventory of paper, ink and coatings and consumables. Record the usage and spoilage as directed from your press supervisor and fill out the various daily usage reports
  • It is the responsibility of all employees to follow the requirements of their documented process as defined in the ISO Quality Manual.
  • Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.
  • Needs to be able to work independently and in a team environment under pressure
  • Must be able to vary shift hours and work overtime when required to cover other feeders
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned and responsible to follow all SOP's that are applicable for this position

JOB SUMMARY:
Check and maintain the quality of the product in accordance with requirements of Departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain a consistently high level of production to assure a continuous work flow off of the printing press to the bindery. May need to undertake additional tasks as seen appropriate by management. It is imperative that the Pressman hold themselves to the highest standard with regards to quality and efficiency of work produced and promote the concept of working together as a team and with other departments to build continual improvement within the company.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with management and scheduling to coordinate the order to run jobs
  • Communicate with the feeder to assure the correct plates, profile, UV coating and run length amounts needed for each job or series of jobs.
  • Assist in bending and preparing the plates to be mounted onto the correct units and mount plates
  • Registering of the plates and the maintaining of the density of all colors to improve quality during the MR and run according to the Operating Procedures
  • Set and adjust speed, temperature, ink flow, positions and pressure tolerances of the equipment.
  • Maintain a fast paced continual make-ready and run process; Inspect and examine and approve the printed product for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications and for external defects as per the NDF printing procedures
  • Provides input for process improvement and makes recommendations based on data gathered
  • Provides communication to QC and Production Management concerning quality issues when required per QC procedures
  • Assist Quality and Engineering in investigations of process related quality issues.
  • Communicates with operators and/or supervisors of any defects found for training and awareness purposes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following minimum requirements:
As a Pressman the operator must possess or satisfactorily show competence in the following areas:
  • Experience preferable on a LS540 Komori or a SM74 Heidelberg printing press using full UV inks and UV coatings
  • Strong leadership abilities and work well in a team environment, they should have a good work ethic with a positive attitude.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a 1st Pressman in a commercial printing facility; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic understanding of Windows to include Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheet, Email. General knowledge and operating skills for common reproductive equipment such as copiers, FAX, computer, etc.

JOB TITLE: Production Artist 2
LOCATION: Rancho Dominguez, CA
DEPARTMENT: Prepress

JOB SUMMARY:
Primary role to prepare customer supplied art into press ready files for production. Prepare files for flat pieces, folding products, scores, and promotional products such as magnets in a fast pace production environment. Assist interdepartmental personnel with production art questions. Produce color proofs.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare customer supplied art into press ready files.
  • Intermediate use in applications: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, QuarkXpress
  • Basic use in applications: Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Preflight and correct art per company procedure and standards

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of facility engineering systems in support of print manufacturing activities within prescribed manufacturers specifications. Perform skilled mechanical and electrical maintenance work in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repairs of printing presses, support equipment, and building systems. Utilizes skills to identify and repair equipment failures and performs routine maintenance on production equipment, to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment and production of quality products which meet customer and business requirements. Maintain, repair, and install plant equipments and machinery; maintains equipment and service records; participates in special projects; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position is for our New Jersey facility.
Minimum Education:
  • High school education.
  • Five years of experience related to the operation and maintenance of Facility or Mechanical/Electrical equipment.
  • Use of platform lifts and/or forklifts.
  • Basic math, computer and good communication skills are necessary Valid NJ drivers license required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Stores and maintains all facility related documentation, maintenance manuals, records and operating procedures. Assists in the generation of required documentation including training manuals, SOPs, validation and calibration.
  • Assist the Operation and Quality Groups in the commissioning and validation of manufacturing systems.
  • Performs or ensures the completion of all mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment in a quality and timely manner to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Diagnoses causes of non-compliant systems operation and completes repairs/adjustments to return systems to original operating specification. Reports and maintain a log of all non-compliant conditions with explanation of cause, effect and repair of systems as returned to normal.
  • Performs preventive maintenance or oversees maintenance performed by mechanical technicians and outside contractors on facilities systems. Administers and schedules maintenance by contract for facilities systems. Arranges appropriate shutdowns minimizing production loss time.
  • Performs both internal and external building maintenance, including maintenance of sidewalks and entranceways during inclement weather, painting, carpentry and light bulb replacements.
  • Assists in the installation and relocation of production machines and equipment.
  • Orders and inventories spare parts.
